Modelling Graphene-like Systems
We are delighted to announce the Simulation Science PhD Workshop: Modelling Graphene-like Systems. This event will take place in UCD CASL, between 28 April – 2 May, 2014. The keynote lecturers will be:
Mauro Ferreira (CRANN, TCD)
Alfredo Iorio (Charles University, Prague)
Siddhartha Sen (CRANN, TCD)
Jorge Zanelli (CECs, Chile)
The Workshop aims to introduce the students to graphene-like systems, by providing introductory and advanced lectures on the methods, starting with introductory lectures ongraphene, many-body physics, Weyl symmetry and Chern-Simons systems. Applications covered include generically deformed graphene, magnetic interactions in graphene-related materials and density of states of graphene. The workshop includes advanced state-of-the-art seminars.
Applications for the Workshop are invited from PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and MSc students from Simulation Science, Physics, Mathematics and Engineering. The UCC-led INSPIRE programme has kindly agreed to provide financial support for travel and accommodation costs for Irish students attending the workshop through its mobility fund.
